Emotional Regulation

Our children experience many emotions in their daily lives – be it happy when offered a snack from a friend, frustration when not knowing how to solve a mathematical sum or even left out when not selected for a team sport. While they may not have the words or the know-how to express or manage them, it is important that we help to validate their feelings by helping them identify and then regulate these emotions.

By being able to help our children identify and regulate their emotions, we can teach our children how to respond effectively and appropriately to particularly stressful or challenging situations in their lives.

Download the activity sheet below to explore questions relating to your child’s emotions.
